Our History and Mission

Open Arms Housing is a 501© 3 nonprofit organization established in 1997 by a group of social service providers who recognized that housing programs did not work for some of the most vulnerable women.

OAH is dedicated to providing housing for women who have previously been overlooked by the current housing programs and services for the homeless.  Our goal is to develop effective housing models that can be successfully replicated.

Our Philosophy

Our model rests on the premise that stable, safe housing is necessary to promote the physical and emotional well-being of all people. We operate under a Housing First approach which holds that all individuals are entitled to safe and decent housing and that access to this housing is not contingent upon participation in services. Those services can come later, but HOUSING IS FIRST.
